The RAPIDFIRE PLUS shift lever features smooth multi-shift action and crisp index feedback. The lever also includes SHIMANO's OPTICAL GEAR DISPLAY, which shows riders what gear position is selected while riding.

Technologies

Rapidfire Plus
Rapidfire Plus is a Shimano shifter design that has been common in mountain bikes since 1985. Instead of a rotary handle, two levers, the main and the release lever, are used. As the name suggests, Rapidfire Plus shifters ensure fast shifting. Depending on the model, it is possible to downshift up to three gears with one shift stroke.

2-Way-Release
With the 2-Way-Release, the shift lever can be pushed and pulled to shift to the smaller sprocket or chainring. This way, the switching process can be adapted to your preferences. Most Rapidfire Plus shifters are equipped with the 2-way release.

Instant release
With Instant Release, the spring and, thus, the cable is released immediately when the lever is actuated, which ensures a highly fast-shifting process. Wearing changing is significantly faster and improved by eliminating the delay associated with a two-stage click-and-release shifting action.
