The New ULTEGRA R8000 series is "pro-proven" as it is a direct trickle-down from the DURA-ACE groupset. As a road bike component, the stress-free operation is an essential feature that leads to all-day riding comfort with braking and shifting.
R8000 Series
The Shimano Ultegra RD-R8000 11-speed rear derailleur now also uses the Shadow design, as was previously the case with Dura-Ace. This highly flat profile, combined with the more direct positioning, reduces the risk of damage and ensures clean, quiet gear changes under all conditions. In addition, the direct mount compatibility results in a new mounting option. The Ultegra rear derailleur is mainly made of aluminum. It is available in two versions: one with a short cage (SS type) for cassettes up to 11-30 and the other with a longer cage (GS type) for cassettes up to a gradation of 11-34. So you can cope with even the steepest ascents.
Shadow RD
The rear mechanism derailleur, Shimano Shadow RD, is intended for more aggressive riding. Its super low-profile design carries many benefits. Because of its low profile and single-tension construction, the derailleur does not hit the chainstay in rough riding conditions. The result is a smooth and silent performance.
