In standard radial bearings, only 3 or 4 balls make contact during the load at any given time. Inside of Enduro Bearings' Angular Contact (A/C) bearings, ALL balls are engaged so that they can distribute force over a larger surface area. This reduces friction and minimizes wear.
In order to meet the ABEC 5 standard, a bearing must meet extremely high requirements for the roundness of the balls, tolerances of the inner and outer diameters, alignment of the running surfaces, and low noise.
Features
- Angular contact ball bearing with 15° angle
- Level 5 in the rating of the Annular Bearing Engineer's Committee (ABEC) in terms of manufacturing tolerances and noise development
- 5th-degree chrome steel balls = deviation from perfect round shape is 0.000005"
- Race grooves made of carbon chrome steel alloy, heat, and triple cold treated (up to -190° C), hardness grade min. Rockwell HRC 62, high gloss polish for precision and quietness
- LLB: widely used seal type made of nitrile rubber with steel insert, in a groove in the inner race (labyrinth bearing), two super-thin sealing lips; the outer one keeps out water and contaminants, the inner one retains grease
- 90% filled with waterproof high-pressure grease
- Side with red seal is load side, 5-10 lbs pretension required
